Gesha: Not one variety.
Abstract
Gesha started out as material collected from a forest in Ethiopia in the 1930s. There are two accounts of the year, and the collector's name turns up only in later retellings. In 1953 it entered an introduction garden at Turrialba in Costa Rica and was registered as T2722. From 1963 it was sent out to Panama, yet nobody cupped it on its own until 2004. What is called Gesha today comes from at least three different sources. Its price has to be read in parts as well. The record is one lot; the market is all the others.
