How we verify

A LAB dossier follows a few rules. Everything below is what each issue actually does.

  1. 01

    Checked before it is written

    Every issue starts with a six-stage fact check — inventory, verification, plan, execution, validation, audit — against primary sources: variety catalogs, official sites, published records. Layout and illustration come after it.

  2. 02

    A source under every figure

    Each figure carries a source line. When a figure rests on OLLA's own framework or judgement, its source line says so, and this site tags each figure accordingly: cited source, OLLA calculation, OLLA Codex records or editorial.

  3. 03

    Nothing means nothing

    Where there is no public data, the dossier says so. It does not guess, split the difference or round. Facts, editorial judgement and gaps in the data are labelled apart.

  4. 04

    The grade comes first

    Each dossier states its evidence grade at the head, with the limits of that grade in the same line.

  5. 05

    Revisions in public

    Every change to a dossier goes into its revision log, newest first, in Chinese, English and Japanese together. The log shown on this site is the dossier's own.

  6. 06

    A picture is a claim

    Illustrated plates are commissioned only after the text is final. No text is baked into the art, and a plate may show only what the dossier states; the labels on it are set from the entry itself.

  7. 07

    Three complete editions

    Chinese, English and Japanese are parallel full texts, translated from the primary wording rather than from search summaries.
